This Shaktipeetham in Alampur is considered as the siddhi devatha in yoga and thus called Jogulamba.This word is derived from a telugu word Yogula amma which became Jogulamba in the due course of time.The ammavaru here is also known as Gruha Chandi. In the temple premises, there are two main deities, Sri Jogulamba Devi and Bala Brahmeswara swamy (Lord Shiva). Two rivers Krishna and Tungabhadra meet at this place and hence it is called Dakshina Kailasam. The moola virat of Sri Jogulamba Devi is seen sitting on a corpse, with flowing hair and there are lizard , scorpion and frog on her head with her tongue stretched out. The ammavaru here is in Ugra roopam.

The Nava Brahmeswara Aalayam is also situated in Alampur which is why it is called Nava Brahmeswara Theertham. Moorthis of chandi and Mundi are there in the Bala Brahmeswara Aalayam on either side. Vigneswara , Veenapani Veerabhadra and Sapthamathrika moorthis can also be seen in the temple.
Alampur is located in Jogulamba Gadwal district of the Telangana State. The temple is on the banks of River Tungabhadra. It is located 25kms from kurnool and 200 kms from Hyderabad.

Alampur Jogulamba is one of the 18 sakthi peethams and the ammavaru here is maha sakthi swaroopini. She is considered as the mother of yoga and siddha. It is believed that praying to Sree Jogulamba Devi kills all the vasthu doshas and drishti doshas. Some people also believe that if one visits this temple, they can get rid of ill health.

This temple was built in the 6th century by the Chalukyan rulers. This region was ruled by many dynasties. A great saint named Rasa Siddha who was under the Chalukyan Kings built the Nava Brahma temples here. In the 14th century, the Bahmani sultans attacked and destroyed the temple. Even though the temple was ruined in this attack, the moola virats of Jogulamba Devi, Chandi and Mundi were hidden in the nearby Bala Brahmeswara temple and saved from destruction. These moorthis were worshipped in that temple for many years. The punah prathistha of the moola virat was done after constructing a new temple in the year 2005.
The remains of the ancient temple here clearly signifies the Badami Chalukyan architecture. The shilpa kala on the temples truly depicts the Chalukyan culture with beautiful carvings of brahma loka, vishnu loka and siva loka on the main entrance.
By air: The nearest airport is the Rajiv Gandhi International airport, Hyderabad. From there travel by road. Alampur is 200kms from Hyderabad.
By road: The temple town is connected well with buses plying from many nearby places. Regular buses from Kurnool and Hyderabad are there to reach the place. It is just 25kms from Kurnool.
By Train: There is a railway station in Alampur named Alampur Road but most of the trains don’t stop here. So one has to reach Kurnool by train (nearest railway station) and then travel to Alampur by road. Kurnool is well connected to Alampur.
The Haritha hotel of the Telangana Tourism is an ideal place to stay. Generally, people stay in Kurnool and visit the place.
The festival of Maha Sivarathri is celebrated here in the Nava Brahma aalayams.
The sarannavarathri (Dasara) is celebrated with utmost bhakthi in which the kanya pooja done on the ninth day is the main attraction. People flock to see and do the kanya pooja here in the Navarathri time.
Kartikamasam special pujas and utsavams are performed for Bala Brahmeswara Swamy.
