Shakambari Purnima 2023 will be celebrated in India, especially in Karnataka, parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh on January 6th, 2023. This day marks the end of the ninedaylong Shakambari Navratri festival. It is believed that on this day, Goddess Shakambari incarnated. Thus, Shakambari Purnima is an important day for Hindus, and Goddess Shakambari is worshipped in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan during this period.

Goddess Shakambari, an incarnation of Goddess Durga/Goddess Bhagawati, is worshipped on the occasion of Shakambari Jayanti. The nineday Shakambari Navratri culminates on the day of her appearance on earth, known as Paush Purnima. On this day, devotees offer prayers to the Goddess and seek her blessings.

Shakambari Purnima is a significant day celebrated in India, with temples dedicated to the Goddess of Vegetables, Fruits and Green Leaves. This day marks the appearance of Shakambari Devi after a hundred year drought, when all the plants and crops had died and people had nothing to eat. The Goddess is believed to have emerged from her body with fruits, flowers, vegetables and herbs to feed the hungry. This day holds great importance in temples dedicated to Shakambari Devi in Karnataka and Maharashtra, and is also celebrated during the Chaitra Month (March April) in Rajasthan.

Shakambhari Jayanti Celebrations and Rituals

* Wake up early, have a holy bath.
* Chant Banashankari Pratah Smaran mantra.
* Decorate Mata’s murty with vegetables and fruits.
* Perform Shakambhari mata’s Aarti while chanting mantra.
* Go to the nearby Shakambari Mata Temple.

Devotees believe that taking a holy dip in the sacred rivers Ganga and Yamuna on this day will free them from the cycle of reincarnation and will absolve them of any bad karma they have committed in this or previous births. On this day, thousands of devotees can be seen at Haridwar, Dashashwamedh Ghat at Varanasi and Triveni Sangam at Prayag.
